Why are you called 'The FRANK Team'?
Because we're a genuine bunch of enterprising people who tell it like
it is in our training and cool resources we create.
What's with your two other names 'Youth 2 Youth' and 'Next Step'?
The FRANK Team was formerly known as Youth 2 Youth up until early 2006
when we changed our company name to reflect the training and resources
we provide for people of all ages. We kept the name Youth 2 Youth
because stacks of people already knew us under that name so we now use
it as a program name for all our training with young people ie: Youth 2
Youth workshops. So of course, then we needed a meaningful name for our
programs for grown ups, and we figured if you don't fall under the
"young person" category any more you'll be looking for the next step in
your development.
Where did the name 'Youth 2 Youth' originally come from?
The key to our effectiveness is our peer-to-peer approach - and in the
case of our programs for under 35's that means one young person helping
another young person. Young people often listen more to their peers.
How did The FRANK Team get started?

Where does the money come from?
All our programs are user-pays, which means if your school, uni,
company, gov't department etc want The FRANK Team to create or run a
program for you, or you'd like us to come in and run one of our
programs, you need to pay for them.
Are you worth the cost of your programs?
Well of course we'd like to think so but here's how our fees work ...
we care more about making a difference than making a profit. Our prices
therefore cover our costs to run our programs and pay our staff, and
any profit that's made goes back into the company. In terms of value
for money, the thousands of people and organisations that have hired us
consistently rate our work highly (ask us for references or check out our sample list of clients).
Plus we know our approach works because it's based on real experience
and first-hand knowledge of what people need, and our fun, authentic
delivery connects with people. FYI, costs are based on the type of
services you need, the length of the program you require, where you're
located, and the number of people participating - so it's tailor made
to you.
What if I can't afford you?
If you're short on cash, we always try to work with our client's
budgets or offset some of the costs with you providing certain
resources like photocopying, so give us a try. If it doesn't work out,
we'll do our best to point you in the right direction for funding, and
offer you a few freebie ideas and/or contacts you could try.
Do you offer anything for free?
Absolutely! There's our monthly e-newsletter IGNITE that's packed with opportunities and success stories for you to sink your teeth into; FRANK - our inspiring ad-celeb-stupid-free magazine for young women; and a galaxy of business articles and links; and our blog - all on our website. We also continue to volunteer our time and skills
on various projects and for worthwhile organisations that need help, as
well as offer contra or special 'mates rates'. So just ask!
If you're all about 'helping people', why are you a for-profit business?
We deliberately didn't set up The FRANK Team as a not-for-profit
because we wanted our business to be sustainable and not reliant on
grant money to keep our doors open. We also admit to being control
freaks ... we'd never want a board of directors getting in the way or
slowing down all the great ideas we're continually coming up with. I
guess you'd say we're typical entrepreneurs!
Why aren't you a RTO (registered training organisation)?
Our honest response would be because there's too much scary paperwork!
But also, we've never based any of our programs on theory, textbooks or
'industry standards' (we're based on tried & true experience) so
why change what works? A piece of paper proves nothing, we believe
actions speak louder and we are all about the results.
Does the Director of The FRANK Team have any qualifications?
You can read more about us on the About Us page,
but to give you a quick summary...Jessica has a Bachelor of Economics
degree (majors in Education and Psychology).
You call yourself a 'social enterprise' - what does that mean?
We're social entrepreneurs, which means we care more about the
difference our business and our work makes in the world than the money
we can line in our pockets. We actually care about our impact on people
and our environment, and make our decisions based on our values and
running a sustainable, ethical business.
What does 'enterprise education' mean?
Enterprise Ed is all about equipping people to identify, create and
manage opportunities for their lives, career, business, and community.
It's all about developing the skills needed today to take initiative
and make things happen.
So do you only run programs about how to start your own business?
Nope! Being an entrepreneur, starting your own business, or turning an
invention or idea into a reality, is just one part of our many
programs. But we also know that the same principles and skills apply -
whether you're starting a biz, running a community project, or
searching for a fulfilling purpose or career - so our training,
resources and work cover ALL these things. You can read more about what
we do by clicking here.
Can you create a training program or resource for me?
Yes! And we're really great at it! We can help you come up with a
fabulous program or educational resource that meets your objectives,
budget and timeline, and if it's a training program, we can even help
you run it.
Do you partner with other organisations?
We love to! Collaboration, strategic alliances, and multi-stakeholder
partnerships are all great ways we like to work together with others to
create bigger and better things. Whether you're one fish in a big pond,
or an organisation either in Australia or internationally, email us with your ideas!
Can I just get you along to my event as a guest speaker?
Yep, even our guest speaking is designed to enrich your skills, and
provide more than just a motivational hit. Download our 'Chocolate Box selection' of guest speakers and topic suggestions!
Do you only work with schools?
We work with people wherever they are - we find them in schools, uni's,
colleges, corporate offices, youth organisations, local councils, in
government programs, and even mega-conglomerates!
You're based in Sydney; do you only work in NSW (Australia)?
No way Jose ... have awesome programs will travel! We have facilitators
to cover the country plus we'll travel anywhere - even internationally.
What age groups do you work with?
We work with young people aged 15 to 35 yrs and grown ups who've left
school/uni etc. We're heaps of fun and highly effective working with
young people as well as grown ups like teachers, careers advisors,
employees, and even managers who look after Gen X / Ys!
