Generation Y: Employment Stats

Some interesting stats about Generation Y and employment.

  • 40%: The proportion of Generation Y who will be working within the next five years, according to personnel company Drake.
  • 63%: The percentage of Generation Y who stays at one job for less than two years.
  • 52%: The proportion of Generation Y employees who assume it will be easy to get another job.

Generation Y employment is crucial. Companies/organisations need to recognise the unique characteristics of Generation Y and their expectations of careers.

Being a Generation X'er, but with definitely a Gerneration Y outlook on things I decided to do something entrepreunerial in this field - I launched www.prospectsaustralia.com just recently.

Prospects Australia is an employer research/information site that allows (amongst other things) current/past employees to submit surveys on their employers so that potential future employees can work out of if an organisation is 'the right organisation for me'. Survey info covers things like career progression, work life balance, culture, what the organisation stands for.

My intention is to make career/job making decisions alot easier for Generation Y.
