The average time between the decision to engage a tradesperson, agreeing to a contract and getting the tradie to your font door takes 11 hours, research by WHoCanDo has found. Just putting together a list of tradespeople to call takes 47 minutes.
How can this be done better? Do you have an innovative solution that the customer is just waiting to use?
We recently found www.elance.com and www.serviceseeking.com.au when looking for a web developer for a few small jobs we needed doing. Service seeking has proven to throw up some good options for us, and it only took a few minutes to upload our job requirement! Would be great to have a ranking system like ebay to see how other people who have used them have found their services! That would really help!

Service Seeking has been an amazing service for me. I can't remember where i discovered them but i can't believe this hasn't been done before. The concept of people bidding against each other to do your work is pretty smart - price comes down, and all information is completely transparent. I have found a good bookkeeper, a conveyancer, a plumber for a blocked toilet, a personal trainer and a website designer. I am addicted to this site
I can imagine web designers (who charge per hour) bidding for a job, as freelancers do on other websites, but a bookkeeper or a personal trainer, this looks weird. Anyway, if it works, the concept is fun. I've used Quote Connect though, for telemarketing services for my company, and I received 4 quotes in a few hours. We discussed with all 4 and chose one. Although I believe the price is not the most important for all business owners, companies that offer services on Quote Connect know that they compete with others, so they give their best price usually.
